I enjoy sharing the things that bring me joy with others, thereby multiplying the joy!
Art lights my life and I believe it should be incorporated into our everyday life. I consider myself a crafter, a baker, and a maker of all things that kindle joy.
I don't remember "learning to cook" because as soon as I could hold a spoon I was helping in the kitchen. In a family of eight every hand helped. My mother always made helping fun. We'd sing and talk, or just work side by side. Another thing we were encouraged to do was anything quiet - like art & crafts. She never worried about us making a mess with glue or glitter.
Growing up I was surrounded by art & food. I come from a family of chefs and artists. My oldest sister is a cook and my grandmother had a pastry and chocolate shop in Ireland. My middle sister and father are artists. One of my brothers is in custom cabinetry design and another brother is an architect. When we were kids we would go on "food and art" trips. On any random weekend my parents might round us up to go to a museum and to pick-nick either nearby or on the museum grounds. One of my favorite outings was when we went to the sculpture gardens and had our pick-nick with the art.
I also spent a lot of time in my dad's studio while I was growing up. I leaned how to look at the world through the eyes of an artist at my father's knee.
I worked in bakeries starting at the age of sixteen. I loved it! I'd still be doing it if it wasn't for the hours....
I love hats, as I love all things girly! I even collect aprons and cookbooks. Actually, I collect a lot of things. I started to collect hats but, I found it difficult to find pieces that were both well made and in good condition. (Especially at a reasonable price.) After I'd been collecting for a while I realized that I could make fascinators and refurbish old hats and that they'd be better than what I could find. So I read some books and used my skills to make my own. When I wore them out people started asking me where they could get them. So, I started making them for sale.
So, I took the creative fire of inspiration and fire of the oven and I made FiresCreations on Etsy.com.
